Verve Project Parade-It' A Girl Thing

Good morning everyone, it is Wednesday and we are half through the work week. I am thrilled to bring you my project for the last day of the Verve Project Parade , you can see all of my project here. The theme for the Verve project is "It's A Girl Thing", be sure to check out all the divas fabulous creations.
I have chose my Mother to honor, she has taught me so much and for that I am grateful. She started encouraging me as a young girl to write notes of care and thank you notes. I was collecting the pretty boxes full of stationary made by the gold crown company when I was very young. I would send notes to my friends, always send thank you notes after birthdays and holidays, and greetings cards to relatives as I got older.

I have always been attracted to boxes, tins and keepsake holders; which brings me to my keepsake box full of handmade cards. These boxes are totally awesome, I got them from Taylored Expessions. I used my Verve set Because of You and several of the Plain Jane sets to embellish the box and create my cards. I used this beautiful dp from My Minds Eye called French Flea Market, a checkered brown ribbon and the gorgeous chocolate pearls from Kaiser. I hope you like my girly keepsake box, it was fun to create and reminisce about the past things Mom has taught me.
You still have one more day to play along with us. Just make a project or card that fits your style and celebrates a woman in your life. It can be any woman ... mom, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, teacher - you get the idea! Just add your project link to the Mr. Linky form here before 8PM Mountain on Thursday, May 14th. Two random participants will be chosen and win $25 gift certificates to the Verve Store. Have fun and good luck! Enjoy your day and thanks for stopping by!

Big Bloom

Good morning all, I luv the mornings. It is sooo peaceful and relaxing, I like to get my cup of joe and sit outside on the deck and enjoy the scenery....aahhhh! Well, I hope your day is off to a great start. Todays card is for the JAZZ11 challenge, Tenia has brought to us an album by Charlie Parker called Charlie Parker with Strings. For those who do not know who Charlie Parker(Bird) is/was.....he was a great alto saxophonist...probably the best in the Bebop era in jazz, to here this great album head over to the Jazzy Challenge Blog, Tenia has it playing for your enjoyment. Well as you can see the colors of the CD are: basic black, real red, yo-yo yellow, and white. I used summer sun instead of yo-yo yellow and riding hood red instead of real red. I hope you have time this week to play along with us, you can see all the other Jazz Cats creations at the Jazzy Blog.
For my card today I made one of the paper flowers that I made last month. You can head over to Emilys Blog to see how they are made, super easy and fun! Cut out imperfect circles, distress, sprinkle with water and crunch them up, then let them dry, add embellies and then add to your creation. I think they really make a statement with these colors.
My card is also for The Pink Elephant Challenge #13 to use circles and scallops, my scallops are distressed edges of my flower..hehehe, head over to play along with TPE gals, I am sure they would luv to see your creation. I hope you have a wonderful day and hug someone today and tell them you love them!

Let's Pray

I created this for todays LSC219, to be inspired by a May holiday and for yesterdays WT217 to use kraft. Yesterday was National Day of Prayer, our country is in need of sooo much right now. If you haven't prayed today, say a prayer for our nation, a neighbor, a loved one, or even yourself.
I need a sympathy card and thought this verse by Verve is perfect for sympathy, it is one of my favorite sciptures. This scripture is soooo comforting to me and I hope it brings comfort to the family I am sending it to. I used my Janome again, my sewing on this one is not perfect, I am trying to live with those types of things. I can't tell you the times I re-do the stuff I hate, it doesn't look as bad in person as it does on the digital photo. I used the textured dp from SU called Parisian Breeze. DH and I are going out for breakfast, we have the day off. I hope you enjoy your Friday!
